THE SCIENTIST who sparked the discovery of a
possible genetic trigger for schizophrenia will speak in
West Vancouver,

Dr. Barry Jones, now of the University of Ottawa

and former director of schizophrenic psychiatry at
UBC, made this breakthrough while at UBC in 1987.

Doctor to speak
on. schizophrenia

and treatment implications of Dr. Jones’ research.

The panel includes Judith Mosoff, a lawyer with the
Community Legal Assistance Society, Dr. Barbara
McGillivray, assistant professor of Medical Genetics
at UBC, and Dr. Werner Pankratz, chief of
Psychiatry, Lions Gate Hospital. Dr. Bill MacKewan
of Riverview Hospital will be the moderator.
