in my $100 to get three issues of
this fine paper mailed to me cach
week.

Boycott ‘an abuse of power

Dear Editor:

I wish to refer to Mr. John
Shields (president of the B.C.
Government Employees Union)
demands that his union members
boycott the handling of South
African wines and liquor.

1 find it despicable that a leader
of a union can enforce his
ideological ideas onto the general
public.

It’s an absolute abuse of his
position to endeavor to contravene

the laws of the provincial gov-
ernment.

I suggest that if he desires so
strongly to legislate and administer
laws affecting the country, then he
pursue another career.

His statement that the majority
of blacks in South Africa welcome
sanctions is a diabolical lie.

Seventy-five per cent of the
blacks are moderates who do not
favor any form of’ sanctions, and
prefer a negotiated erasing of
apartheid.

They are provincial leaders
grandstanding on the international
scene for their own benefit, and
deliberately ignore the genuine
reforms taking place.

May the Social Credit governm-
ent continue their positive . ap-
proach to a complex situation.
