stage, and the fall courses
having just wound to a halt,
this column will be devoted
to that of “advice to the
workworn,” or “helpful hints
for the harried.” I've hinted
at these tips before but
maybe when they have their

own. -column,.. you'll ‘ heed. -

The real secret here is not
to give something your
recipient should have (like a
keep-fit course for the fat,
lazy friend) but something
refreshingly different. How
about a dance course for the
accountant on your list; a
language-of-your-choice for

travel; a photography course

But of course the best idea
of all is probably to give a
gift certificate for any they —
choose. Don’t just give
money in an_ envelope,
though. It's too easy for that
gift to find its way to the
supermarket ‘cash register,
with the recipient. forgetting,

‘the good ‘old- adage that

“man (nor woman) does not
live by bread alone.”
