which cost local taxpayers
$20,000 is being sold for
$10,000 to a private con-
tractor — yet North .Van-
couver District is still ahead
$8,200 in the deal.

department with an offer to
purchase the equipment for
$10,000.

Currently the weighscale
is being leased to B.A.
Blacktop. The equipment
was purchased by District in
1974 for $20,000.

However, according to an

engineering department
report, District has spent
$9,500 repairing and
upgrading the equipment
which brings the total cost of
the weighscale to $29,500.
But Harry McBride,
deputy director of
engineering, noted that rent
revenue from the truck scale
amounted to $37,700 since

“And this leaves a net
return of $8,200 to the
District,” said McBride in a
report to council.

He also told council “it is
unlikely that an alternative
purchaser could be found
who would offer a price for
the scale that was in excess
of $3,000 to $4,000.”
