The Toronto country/rock stalwarts and the Newfoundland Celtic rack combo are co-head- lining the festival at Deer Lake Park in Burnaby. Tc will be the fourth stop on a seven-city tour which begins June 25 in Kingston, Ont. Both bands were in Vancouver Monday to announce the tour before a show at the Starfish Room. “Vancouver's a good market for us, always has been strong,” says Blue Rodeo bassist Bazil Donovan. “It's also like a second home. Half of my friends I think, are here. So it’s a good excuse to come here.” Stardust Ball began in 1997 when Blue Rodco headlined a day-long summer fesuval at Toronto’s Fort York with Great Big Sca, Steve Earle, Victoria Williams, The Skydiggers and Oh Susanna, Last year the bands took the Stardust Picnic on the road to Montreal and Orrawa with Cowboy Junkies, 54-40, Ron Sexsmith and jay bash Neko C mith and Case will be on the bill at Deer Park. Tickets, $35 plus service charges and xes, are on sale Saturday at 9:30 a.m. through ‘Tickermas cr. At Stardust Picnic, Blue Rodeo will preview songs from: its upcoming cighth album. According to Donovan, it will be released late this year or in spring 2000. The band is going to Daniel Lanois’ Kingsway studio in New Orteans for 10 days in June to begin recording. In the meantime, a double live album will be in stores by June. The compilation of songs span- ning the band’s career was recorded during 1997-98.
