Caplianos advance to
Knockout Cup final
after mid-season break

AFTER A lengthy mid-season
break. the Capilano first-divi-
sion side resumed its schedule
with a [3-3 victory ever the
Vancouver Rowing Club at
Brockton Oval.

Without a loss in the last eight
games, the Capilanos have now
advanced into the KnockoutCup
final. scheduled for Saturday,
March 3,

The Knockout Cup is a chal
fenge series drawing sone of the
best North American teats. includ-
ing sides from Vancouver Island.
Washington State. Vancottver and
the Fraser Valley.

The series is run apart from
league play.

The Capitanos beat the Rowers
ina sluggish. tow-scoring affair
somewhat indicative of the early

play in the second hall of the sca-
son,

The winning result for the Caps
was brought on by a superb try by
flanker Steve Gellnas and the Kick-
ing of Steve Eastman and Stu
Wright.

The other teams in the North
Shore club have started off the sec-
ond half right where they tefl off.

The 3rds won easily over the
Ex-Brits in their first two miaches,
Both the 4As and 4Bs won their
opening omiatehes over the
Greyhounds, 32-0. and the Rowing
Chih, 29-17.

The North Shore juniors atsa
won 35-0 over the Trojans. keeping
their undefeated season-long streak
alive, ALL Capilano teams resunie
league play this Saturday. Feb, 3,
with five home matches scheduled
for play at the club’s Klahanie Park
facility. behind Baris on Marine.
