This scenario is being played out all over the Lower Mainland as the provincial government cuts back on school funding. The Korbin Commission — a public inquiry that has exam- ined public sector bargaining in B.C. — is expected to make public its findings soon. Caught in the middle are the students whe are being deprived of their education and parents who are scambling to find support for their children while they work. With this in mind, we ask: Should teachers be considered an essential service?
