In March 8 action at the Capilano Coilege Sportsplex more than 400 fans got a chance to see what Langley meant as a disciplined Canada Selects basket- ball team easily defeated the Seat- tle American Athletic Union (AAU) Allstars 129-93 in exhib- ition play. Led by Langley and head coach Kea Shields, the Canadians domi- nated the game with such star performers as SFU’s Al Kristman- son who led the scoring with 26 points during the game. While height is often considered a prerequisite to basketball, “short guys’? Joey Vickery at 5°11”? and Eli Pasquale at 6°1'’ proved they could play as well or better than anyone else. Vickery, from Brandon Univer- sity, showed that well-placed jump shots quickly add up when he bagged three three-pointers in the second half. Pasquale, from UVic, let fly for 18 points in the game.
