Driver beaten,
robbed in WV

THE DRIVER of an Oscarsson’s bakery delivery truck was beaten
and robbed in the parking lot at Park Royal south Jan. 4 at 3:20
a.m.
The driver was beaten and kicked repeatedly by two men. The
assailants made off with $10. The victim was sent to Lions Gate
§ Hospital, treated and released later during the day.
West Vancouver Police ure requesting that witnesses, who saw or
heard the incident, call the detachment at 922-4141.
The suspects are described as two white males, age 25 to 30. The
suspects both wore lumberman-iype shirts. One of the suspects was
j wearing glasses. The attack took place in an area near the Super
f Valu and Eaton's stores.

| Hillside students
charged with arson

zwo HILLSIDE stadents, both of them young offenders, have
been charged with arson for the Dec. 5 fixe at Hillside Secondary
School.

; A fire, located in the southwest comer of the school, caused
several thousacds of dollars of damage to a maintenance storage
room and its contents, as well as smoke damage to the western
wing of the school.

The students, age 13 and 15, were charged Jan. 4 in West Van-

Firefighters called
to boat’s gas spill

NORTH VANCOUVER City Fire Department firefighters were
called to the North Vancoaver waterfront Tharsday night to heip
contain a gesoline spill sboard a container and tanker vessel. I

Firefighters responded at approximately 9:50 p.m. Jan. 5 to the
Frank H. Brown, docked at Pier $4. The ship, operated by White
Pass Transportation Lid., was taking on container cargo bound
for Skagway Alaska when the spil) occurred.

Approximately 80 gallons of gasoline spilled on to the ship’s
deck tbrongh an open inert gas valve. The valve had inadvertently
been left oper. When the ship moved its crane forward, the nose of
tke ship was lower than the rear, causing the gas to flow out of the
vaive.

According to a White Pass spokesperson, the gasoline was con-
tained with sawdust.
