West Vancouver court clerk Mary Anne Von Wit- tgenstein said at the time that a court ban on publication of information leading to the identity of the victims in the case prevented publication of both the accused and victim's names. “Tam not prepared, therefore, to give out that in- formation, ''she said. She subsequently ruled out any possibility that the infor- mation could be released. Lawyers for the News say they know of no such ban on publication of an accused’s name after conviction. The ban on publication was ordered by Judge R.D. Grandison on Monday. The accused in the case ap- peared in West Vancouver provincial court Wednesday and pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault.
