Jim Tapp scored the final goal in the last minute of the game, after being set loose on a breakaway from his own blue line by Dean Larivee. Warriors came up with their first win of the season in a spirited effort, edging Old Crows 4-3. Jim Brico tipped in Les Kmet's pass for an ear- ly Warrior lead. Dave Barker West Van made some fine moves then passed to Ron Brown, whose backhander tied the score. Wayne Silver gave the Crows the lead from a scramble in front of Dave McLeod. Norm Rettie tied it up in the second from close in. Mid- way through the third Les Kmet restored the Warriors lead with a shot over Bilt Swint's shoulder, then slip- ped a rebound home a few minutes later when the Crows defense failed to clear the puck. Crows pulled their goalie, and Ron Brown made it close with a minute left in the game, then almost tied it in the dying seconds. Firefighters almost made it two upsets in a row, leading Drillers 3-1 midway through the game. After Don Hopps slapped in Rene Marleau’s perfect pass from the corner to put Drillers up 1-0 early in the first period, Eric Virs came back to tie the game with a great shot to the top corner. Early in the second period Virs put the Firemen up, moving around Don Bielby and backhanding the puck behind Keith Gibson. A minute later, Fred Baines knocked by Notre Dame From Page B1 year. John McCormick took advantage of a lapse in the Firefighters defence to tie the game heading into the third. Mc- Cormick then put the Drillers one up, deflecting Ken Feyer's perfect pass from the point, but a minute later Steve Sentes shot from the corner somehow eluded Gib- son and it was tied again. Drillers put their big guns out for the final shift and it paid off when Larry Barker took Larry Brown’s pass at the blue line, moved into the slot, and stuffed the puck in under the crossbar for a 5-4 Driller victory.
