A DARING _ thief
who broke into five
British Properties
homes within an hour
early Tuesday morning
was.rewarded with only
a small amount of cash
for the risks he took.

The masked thief cut
telephone lines at the homes
of his victims and in some
instances even encountered
residents in their homes.

By the time his spree was
over, at which point several
West Vancouver police
officers were busy scouring
the area for him, he had
netted just $62 cash and a
further $17 in US bills.

Police are still looking for
the man who was wearing

ARSON is considered the
most likely cause of a fire in
a tent trailer in a North

Vancouver underground
parking lot early Thursday
morning.

North Vancouver City
firefighters found the trailer
blazing beneath the = six-
storey Simpson biock at 105
West Keith when they went
there shortly before 3:30
a.m. They were at the scene
for an hour, removing thick
smoke after extinguishing

prying open sliding glass
doors and windows and after
his first break-in, on
Eyremont Drive, was
reported at 5:45 a.m. he was
seen on Crosscreek Road,
where he broke into another
home, at 6:20 and then on
Sutton Place at 6:40. He also
broke into two addresses on
Greenwood Road.

In a couple of instances he
was confronted in bedrooms
he had entered.

The same day also saw a
series of highrise break-ins in
West Vancouver.

This time the thief was not
just interested in cash. After

at 1785 Esquimalt, the
burglar broke in to three

apartments and _ stole
jewellery and cash with a
total value of $1,361.

Two suites were also hit in
a highrise at 555 13th Street,
where the thief again used
the same method of entry
into the apartments.

change totalling $1,786.50
was stolen from one suite,
while the exact value of
items taken from the other
has yet to be ascertained.
