They are long jump, sprints and relays, high jump, shot put and long distance running. We asked coaches and some participating students at Montroyal about our track and field program. Mr. Rader, a teacher who has been coaching track and field for twenty years, said that “long distance is very painful and hard to do. You have to work hard and it is very diffi- cult, but it is a fulfilling challenge!” Alex Sheppard, a student who has been doing sprints and relays for two years, said that “The program at Monrroyal is OK, but there should be more practices at more convenient times.” Mr. Squire, the principal at Montroyal, and also’a shot put coach, said, “It’s really fun, any- one can do it!” ; Pierson Hayes, a high jump participant said, “It is very fun and organized.” We talked to many more. staff and students and they all agreed that the Montroyal track and field pro- gram is a worthwhile experience.
