Super cycling
PARAPLEGIC John Ryan has spent the last four months hand-cycling across Canada. The final stretch of the

journey saw him cycling to Whistler from Park Royal on Sept. 10. Ryan’s Cross Canada Regeneration Tour has
raised over $890,000 for spinal cord research.

As part of the Local improvement Initiative (Municipal Act
- Section 629), TAKE NOTICE THAT the Council of The
Corporation of the City of North Vancouver proposes

to construct eight paved lanes and ditch enclosures,
concrete sidewalks and streetlighting as described below:

1. Description of the:

LANES

a) Lane North of East {3th Street between St. Andrew's
and Ridgeway Avenues
Lane Immediately East of Lonsdale, North of ath Street to
Dead-end :
North/South portion of Lane North of East 9th Street, East of Grand Boulevard

_ Lane North of East 15th Street between William and Rufus Avenues

Westerly North/South portion of Lane North of East {6th Street, East of Williams Avenue
Lane North of East 16th Street between St. Andrew's and Ridgeway Avenues
North portion of the North/South Lane East of St. Andrew's Avenue, North of East ISth Street
to the East/West Laxe Only
Lane North of West 20th Street between Westview and Larson

2. The lifetime of the work is [0 years.

3. The total estimated cost of all the work is $333,532.00.

4. The share of the total cost for all the lanes, sidewalks and streetlighting which will be scaly charged

against the parcels benefiting or abutcing from the work is $172,379.03.

5. The City's share of the cost of ali the work is estimated to be $161,152.99.

6. (a) The Property Owners’ portion of the lane paving cost of these projects, without speed arrestors,
shall‘be an annual charge of $8.30 for each metre of taxable frontage to be specially charged -
against the parcels benefiting from or abutting the work. .

(b) The Property Owners’ portion of the lane paving cost of these projects, with speed arrestors, ;
shall be an annual charge of $8.50 for each metre of taxable frontage zo be specially charged

7. The Property Owners’ portion of the sidewalk cost of this project is as per Schedule A

Alf persons desiring to petition AGAINST THE UNDERTAKING for any of thie above
constructions must do so on or before October 22, 1999. “Council can only be prevented from
proceeding with the work if more than 50% in number of the owners, representing af, least 50%
of the assessed value of the lands involved for each project, respond against the undercaking.’ ”
In the case of joint ownership, both owners must sign, and where two or mare persons are the
owners of the property, a majority of them must sign the petition. Where the properiy is _
registered in the name of a limited company, an officer of the company must in the Petition |
and show his or her position in the company... : :
