this becomes a critical period because the home has a very
high humidity level duc to moisture from the new con-
crete, drywall taping and subfloor plywood, Good
installers will not lav any hardwood flooring until the mois:
ture level in home gets down to 35-40% relauve humidity
and 5-8% moisture in the substraight: plywood. As these
conditions are met, ooring is moved into the home and
allowed to sit tor 2-3 days in order to become accustomed
to the surroundings. The wood floor fibres will pick up or
give off moisture to match new surroundings which is

f ecalled seasoning. If the Nlooring is properly seasoned you

will nor get shrinking which causes the seams to open,
untess the home is allowed to dry out by allowing the rei-

E ative humidity to fall below 40% level. When and if hard-
wood floors open at the seams, this is a sign that moisture
must be added by humidification either through your fur-
nace system or portable humidifier. It is important to have
a humidimeter to monitor relative humidity levels during
the dry cooler winter months.
