wide shortage during and

To be eligible to give blood,
first-time donors must be
between the ages of 17 and 60
years, weigh at least 50
kg.(110 pounds), be in good
health and free from) most
medication. Regular donors
may donate up to age 71,
although those aged over 66
must have donated in the past
two vears. In addition, donors
are require to show identifica-
tion and are reminded to cat a
substantial meal one to four
hours prier to giving biood.

The count, which is organized
each year bv the Lynn Canyon
Ecology Centre, 3663 Park
Rd., North Van., V7J 3G3,
only takes a few minutes and
helps provide inyportant infor-
mation on changes in bird
populations. “All you do is
look out your window at
home and count the number
and species of birds at your
feeder, We provide the
counting form and the species
list. Just send back your
results to the Ecology Centre
and voila!, you have con-
tributed to a growing knowl-
edge about bird populations
on the North Shore,” say
