HOGGE - Charles Derek, father of
Michael, Janet, Denise and grandfather
of Garth, passed away peacefully on
April 10, 1992. Our sincere thanks to
Dr. Shane Barclay, the home care nurses
and the staff at Davies Pharmacy for
their great compassion.

HOWARD - In the Cowichan District
Hospital on April 12, 1992, Mrs. Joan
Violet Howard (nee Hushes) at the age of
60 years, Born in Fulhan, England on
January 8, 1932.
Survived by her loving husband Roy
Allan Howard; three children, Yvonne V.
Nowasad (nee Howard) and her husband
Michael and their children, Nicole,
Elizabeth and Justin, Susan P. New (nee
Howard) and her husband Ray and their
children, David, Danny and Raymond,
son Rey Gary Howard: sister Clair
Ledgerwood and brother Arthur Husher,
both of England,
Roy and Joan were married on June 28,
1952 and came to Canada in 1956, set-
tling in Edmonton, then in 1966 the
family moved to Vancouver and from
there to Duncan in 1991. Joan enjoyed
ballroom dancing, gardening and was an
avid bookkeeper. Her presence will be
deeply missed,
Service will be held in St. Peter's Angli-
can Church, 5800 Church Road, Dun-
can, B.C. on Friday, April 17, 1992 at 2
p.m., Reverend L. McMenamie of-
ficiating. Cremation at Cedar Valley
Memorial Crematorium, Cedar, B.C.
Floral tributes are acceptable or dona-
tions to the Canadian Cancer Society,
205-225 Canada Avenue, Duncan, B.C.,
VOL 216 would be appropriate.

SWITLO ~ Mr Gary Kornel, born
September 30, 1946, passed away 4:00
pm, April 13, 1992 at his home in North
Vancouver under the loving care of Ls
Madeson. Gary suffered a long iliness
due to AIDS, He is survived by his loving
wife \meeda, and daughter Nareana; his
parents Mary Switlo and Don Switlo and

is sister Janice Switlo. A private service
was held at the Infant of Prague Catho-
fic Church on Thursday, Apsil 16. Gary
had touched many people with his
kindness and co-operative spirit. There
was a memorial reception for his many
friends and associates, also on Thursday,
April 16, at the Park Royal Hotel. Gary
has requested that donations, in lieu of
flowers, be made in his name to the
AIDS Research Chair at St. Paul's Hos-
pital, care of Dr. Montanner who helped
im greatly and whose work may one
day defeat this disease.
