THE CAPILANO Blues women’s
basketball team won the provincial
Totem Collene Athictic Associa-
tion championships over the
weekend after overwhelming
undefeated Fraser VaBey College
63-45 in Saturday’s final match.
Blues guard Glenda Kuight ied
scorers from both teams with 16
points and was later chosen the
tournament’s most valuable

player.

The Capilano College team
qualified for the final after beating
Vaerceuver Vecstions? lastitste
53-49 in Friday aight’s semi-final.

‘The tournament, which also in-

cluded Cariboo College, was
played at Langley’s Trinity
Western University.

In addition to Knight’s most
valuable player honor, Blues for-
wards Denise Logan and Caroline
Headry were selected to the tour-
nament’s all-star team.

The Blues will now advance to
the national TCAA championships
scheduled to be held at Toronto’s
Mohawk College March 26 to 28.

Coach Greg Sharpe said the
Blues trip to the national finals will
be the first in the team’s history. -

“*We just keep getting stronger
and stronger,"’ he said.

Golfers swing in Vegas

THE LIONS Gate Golf Centre
successfully hosted a golf tourna-
ment at the Tropicana Golf and
Country Club in Las Vegas March

The top five low net scorers in-
chuied Bits Takara, who won a
new set of Yamaha irons, and

Doran Greider, Nigel Williams,
Sachi Yameda and Pete Pederson.

The low gross was won by Gary
Wozy.

Williams, Sachi Yamada, Katsuko
