St. Thomas Aquinas was the most improved school, while Handsworth and Hillside tied for the School Spirit Award. Dave Wilkinson, the Handsworth track star, and senior boys aggregate win- ner, set two new records in the 110m hurdles (14.22) and 100m run (10.68), but he was unable to beat his own record in the 200m _ run, which he set last year. Mark Osborne from Wind- sor set a new senior boys record, in the triple jump. His distance of 13.28m broke a ten year old record. Trevor Smith from Hillside set a new record for the senior boys 1500m, completing the distance in 4:00.25, almost a second faster than the old time set in 1981. A new record was set in the junior boys 1500m as well. Jim Mutch from Argyle (junior boy aggregate win- ner) finished the course more than 9 seconds ahead of his nearest opponent, in 4:12.63. The Sentinel juvenile girls set a new record in the medley relay, with a time of 3:06.84. The old record had only been set last year by Handsworth. Brett) MacNeal from Windsor, winner of the juvenile boys aggregate. broke a 17 year old record in the shot put, with a distance of 13.93m.
