JACQUELINE Kirby
is hoping to revive
interest in Apparel B.C.

The industry organization
has had a low profile since the
departure of its executive
director Maureen Drew, who
left Apparel B.C. at the end of
August after relocating with
her family to Vancouver
Island where her husband had
accepted a work contract.

Kirby, also a North Van
resident, replaces Drew in a

newly created position called
“association administrator.”

The tithe was changed
because the association want-
ed “somebody who could
wear two hats, who has the
ability of running the office
and going out and meeting
members in their place of
business, listening to their
concerns and bringing them
back to the board table,” said
Kirby, whose background is in
public relations and marketing
for the hospitality industry.

The association has called a
board meeting for March 15
and will holds its next AGM in
May. The association is also
planning a seminar on Tariff
Preference Level (TPL).

Kirby said the benefits of
membership in Apparel 8.C.
are many, and include sub-
stantial discounts at interna-
tional trade fairs and industry
seminars.
