Robert Misjak of North Vancouver was the big win- ner at the Special Olympics’ swimming meet ac William Griffin Pool. Misjak came first in the 50-metre backstroke and first in the 50-metre butterfly. He was second in the 100 SPORTS metre. Ten years later Misjak was a multiple gold medallist at an international Special Olympics meet in the sum- mer of 1999, The North Shore Winter Club Flames of the West Coast junior Hockey League lost 4-3 to the Port Coquitlam Buckeroos in Port Coquitlam, but beat the Coquitlam Warriors at home, 10-2.
