THE table grape is a
fine extension of our
ever improving wine
producing capacity.

A direct result of the
North American Free Trade
agreement, B.C. table grapes
are now produced in relative-
ly large quantities. In 1994
504,000 Ibs. were grown
mostly i in the Okanagan
region. The wholesale value

of this crop was $372,000 —
a 2 good beginning.

The most popular variety
is the Coronation grape,
dark blue in color and seed-
jess. That is the seeds are
very small and soft. The
Coronation is an exceilent
eating and cooking grape. It
is nutritious, providing
Vitamin C, B6 and potassi-
um. Eaten "fresh, it also con-
tains resveratol, a dictary
substance which has choles-
terol lowering properties.

There are other varieties

available in lesser quantities
like Patricia, Sheridan, Bath
and Campbell Early. Ask. for
them, they are not only an
outstanding fruit, but we
should support our table
