By Anna Marie D'Angelo News Reportar Judy and Mario Paone held one of seven winning lottery tickets for a $10 million jackpot. The couple were the only B.C. winners. That makes them the province's first 6/49 millionaires this year. Said Mario, 53, “I am so happy.” He bought the winning ticket after stopping at a Bumaby gas sta- tion for gas. The fuel bill totalled $18. Mario was walking back to his truck with change from 4 $20 bill when he decided to go back and buy a 6/49 ticket. “LT remembered it was a $10 mil- /lion (pot),” said Mario on Thursday / from the B.C. Lottery Corp.'s / Richmond office. j The steelworker used the quick pick to select the winning numbers. “Tt mostly buy (tickets) when there is a high pot,” said Mario. Mario said he has been buying lottery tickets for years and has won “small” amounts. He said his daughter checked the numbers and both of them “jumped around” when they realized they won the jackpot. Mario immediately phoned his wife, Judy, 49, who was at work on the food line at Lions Gate Hospital at the time. “She: didn’t believe me." said Mario. | The Paones plan to buy a new car, pay off their mortgage and trav- el to Italy with the money. Mario said he plans to continue working, for now, at the steel plant in New Westminster where he has been employed for 30 years, cplisapibllae DRIVE-THRU Ol CHANG!
