The eldest, Helen Colpitts, 77, still lives in the family home, a wooden house on Fulton Avenue, built by her father in 1917, Franx and Janet Colpitts moved to West Vancouver from New Brunswick when Helen was one year old. Their other children, are Frank, Lorne, Evelyn, Eunice, Maric, Agnes and Billie. Helen said the family home had no electricity until 1923, and the family had to use coal oil lamps and fetch water from the crecks, She said transportation back and forth from Vancouver meant a walk to the waterfront, where fer- ries would leave two to three times a day. WEST VANCOUVER semcghg ‘ The Park Royal Hotel salutes West Vancouver on its 75th An- niversary. We are proud to have been 2 member of Vancouver's most beautiful municipality since 1958, when the hotel was built by Mr. Viggo Eriksen, a retired ship's chandler. Mr. Eriksen’s hand-hewn beams still grace our lobby, and the beautiful Tudor- style inn is still covered by the Virginia Creeper he planted 29 years ago. His choice of location beside the Capilano River is even more lush and beautiful than it was then as we constantly upgrade and maintain the surrounding gardens. Since Mr. Eriksen’s time, we have become world-famous for our excellent cuisine which has earned us the coveted Mobile 4 Star award, befitting the high standards of West Vancouver. \bLlJ PARK ROYAL HOTEL R 540 CLYDE AVE., WEST VAN 926-5511, desk or 922-2828, restaurant
