By Surj Rattan Contributing Writer Four members of the Capilano College administration appeared before WVSB recently to ask for support in the college’s bid to ab- tain a $150,000) grant from WVDC, The total cost of the recreational facility, which will include a 2,000-seat gym, raquetball centre and an exercise centre, is $3.2 mil- lion. North Vancouver District Coun- cil has contributed $400,000 and North Vancouver City is being asked for a $200,000 grant. The remaining amount will come from the provincial government and from within the college. The college will be appearing before WVDC Nov. 17, but college president Doug Jardine said since one in every five West Vancouver students attends Capilano College, the school board should help lobby Sor the grant from council. He wants WYVSB to send a letter to council saying the board sup- ports the recreational facility and that council should give the $150,000 grant. But trustee Hugh Stark said West Vancouver should not help pay for anything that will be located in North Vancouver, “TE think the money can be spent better in this community rather than to support something in North Vancouver, if the money is going to be spent, then it should be spent on something that is going to benefit us all,’ said Stark.
