Jackie Liu holds down the fort at the Bagga Beans cafe in North Vancouver's Delbrook. Centre. Liu’s partner, Jennifer Davies, made off before the News photographer could capture her on film. Robert Gaister News Reporter robert@énsnews.com FEW of the people popping into Bagga Beans Cafe in North Vancouver’s Delbrook Centre go there to learn some- thing. But considering two of its employees are educa- tion students it’s not hard to imagine them impart- ing a little knowledge to _ their clients. Jackie Liu and Jennifer Davies have collec- tively worked at the cafe for more than two years though Davies is the elder states- man of the two. Both praise the cafe’s goods extensively and if | employee attitude is a barometer of customer satisfaction, no one walks away from the counter without a smile. “We make really good coffee and all the _ bakin comes from (West Vancouver’ S Savoury Island Pie Company,” said Davies matter-of-factly, Who can argue with a teacher? “You can say Jen is going to be a kick-ass French teacher,” suggested Davies in an assessment of her own future. Slowing down Harry’s Market has been a fixture of Delbrook Centre for many years and Helena Siu has been there for 20 of then. It might as well be called Helena’s Market because she is almost always there. Her take on the area’s residents who pop in to pick up various odds and ends is as stellar as everyone else’s in the | plaza. “Around here the neighborhood is really nice and I need a job bur I enjoy it too,” said Siu who’came to Canada from Hong Kong. “Everything there is in a hurry but in Vancouver you don’t need to hurry.” Fruity flights of fan: - Bob’: ge Stand i. a North Shore landmark if there ever was one.
