Mushrooms (fresh) are a frequent offering — they’re unbelievably cheap in Britain — about 24p. for a half pound in the shops. These, with bacon, toast and broiled tomatoes are a good choice for breakfast. It’s also possible — but not always — to have your egg scrambied. You usually pay in the morning. e If you’re worried about hygiene, B&B's are spotless. You won't find grubby guests or loud parties. * Most offer a ‘‘lounge’’ for guests where there’s a TV and often an open fire. It’s a great place to meet fellow tourists.
