Collins feels Turner has
also made a mistake in the
timing of the election by call-
ing a summer campaign,
terming it a ‘“‘very insensitive
time.*’ She adds she would
have preferred the election
to be held the week after the
Labour Day weekend.
Collins has mobilized
about 200 volunteer workers
since her nomination
meeting win. For the clection
campaign, she expects to
have about 1,000 workers.
And she plans to fight the
campaign on issucs, not per-
sonalities.

agricultural policies. They
are important to us, because
if we’re going to help the
Prairies, we’ve got to help

chinery, they’re buying
equipment which is being
made in other parts of the
country, (from people) who

holidays. The system really
works together. So _ those
policies, although there
aren’t too many farmers in
Capilano, are very important
to us,”’ she says.

Collins says the party’s
plans to totally revamp the
National Energy Policy is
highly significant since the
old policy ‘‘drove investment
out of this country.”’

“I’m looking forward to
some of that investment
coming back (and) people in
the country re-investing in
the energy business, and
making it fair. We’re con-
cerned about self-sufficiency
and we’re doing away with
some of the horrendous pro-
visions they had under the
old system,’’ says Collins.
*‘Petro Canada is going to
have to operate like any
other private company and
be accountable to Parlia-
ment.’”’

Other polices she cites in-
volve changes in the royalty
regime, with taxing to occur
“‘at the end of the profit.
