Smith photo) - WASHINGTON (UPI) - Noting that the risk of cervical cancer increases with the number of sexual partners, a U.S. government advisory committee recommended Friday that all non-virginal reccive Pap smear tests every one to three years. The National Institutes of Health panel said the simple screening procedure should be started soon after a woman begins sexual activity and should begin with two Pap smears a year apart. Dr. Maureen Henderson, of the University of Washington and the head of the committec, said if the first two Pap smears find no abnormalities, then a woman's risk of developing cancer of the cervix drops significantly despite her sexual experience.
