“ north shore news Windsor Dukes (or are the girls known as Dukettes?) have captured the North Shore Senior Girls Basketball cham- pionship with a 39-28 win over the favored Carson Graham Eagles last week. Dukes, who finished the regular season just behind Carson Graham, found the measure of success in the double loss knockout tournament and handed Eagles two losses last week against only one defeat. Hillside and St. Thomas made up the other two teams in the four team cham- pionship round. Carson then advanced to the final round by downing St. Thomas last Wednesday. Trying to regain their league leading form, Eagles came up with a tough 48-45 overtime win against Dukes last Thursday in what was a do-or-die situation. If Eagles had lost, it would have been all over As it was they postponed the end result for one day, to Fnday, when Dukes came up with an inspired per- tormance to down Carson 39-28 for the championship.
