Smugglers move west .

The Pacific Northwest has
become_a major alternative

route for. drug smugglers, .

officials.

And an RCMP Inspector.

says the big marijuana bust
on Vancouver Island last
week represents only a
fraction of the drugs being.

RCMP seized over 20 tons of
Columbian marijuana being
unloaded on Vancouver
Island, and apparently
bound for Seattle.
Talks are now underway
with the Americans to
discuss the possibility of
setting up a combined in-
telligence network to
control the smuggling.

Menten to stand
trial for war crimes

The elderly Dutch art
collector and businessman,
Pieter Menten has _ been
ordered to stand trial again
for war crimes he was found
innocent of last year.

The Attorney-General of
the Netherlands had ap-
pealed a lower court ruling
to release Menten from jail,
last December.

Tuesday, the Supreme

Court of the Netherlands
supported the appeal.

‘Menten was charged with
supervising the killing of 20
Poles, most of them Jews,
during World War II.

The new trial is to be held
in Rotterdam, but a trial
date will not be set until
officials locate Menden who
has been in hiding since his
release in December.
