Twenty-five teenagers from the Lower Mainland star in Passages, a large-scale theatrical presentation that is one of the highlights of the annual festival of music, dance and theatre. The Kiss Project was founded in 1995 by choreographer Judith Marcuse, a West Van resident whose aim was to con- nect artists, disciplines and audiences in an innovative, dynamic and enjovable way. In the past handful of yeais, many of the more than 200 Kiss commissions have gone on to become full-length works performed for audiences across Canada, the U.S. and Europe. Passages plays Friday, Saturday and Sunday, 8 p.m. at Performance Works on Granville Island, the venue for all Kiss BANTASTIC SAVINGS Project productions. Tickets are $18 and $12 for the perfor- mance, which organizers describe as a celebratory ritual — a fast-paced evening of stilewalking, fire, water, lanterns, jug- gling, feasting, gentle poctry and song. ; The festival continues ro Feb. 13 with workshops and pez- formances of commissioned works. Among the highlights: Creations: Artists from across Canada join local talent to deliver an evening of six performance pieces on the theme of romantic love.
