The Porters Guild of B.C.
hopes to change that with the
release this month of Made of
Clay (Douglas & Melatyre,
$40).

hard-cover should serve to
educate the reader on this
ancient and richly varied craft.
Ir depicts the work of more
than 126 B.C. porters, includ-
ing a dozen who fire up their
kilns on the North Shore. In
face, the beautiful blue raku
apple on the cover is che work
of West Van's Joseph Mihalik.
