Original paintings, lithographs, fine-art photographs, collage and other forms of two-dimensional art are eli- gible for submission. The council’s art rental collection comprises more than 100 works by local artists including Kiff Holland, Vange Brossard, Ravinond Chow and Valerie Metz. All submissions will be reviewed by jury on Saturday, Feb. 7, from 10 a.m. to noon at North Lonsdale United Church, 3380 Lonsdale Ave., North Vancouver. The jury tee is $7. Participating artists must be arts council members. The annual fee is $25, $15 for seniors and students, payable at the event. Rental works are on view to the public the fourth Monday of the month. The next art rental evening is Monday, Jan. 26 at Presentation Hoiise, 333 Chesterfield Ave., North Van. The average monthly rental fee is $10. The arts council keeps 30% with the remainder going to the artist. The main benefit to artists is exposure of their work and the potential to make a sale, said the council’s executive director Linda Feil. Art rental “gets the artists’ work out there instead of sitting in their store room,” she said. Much of the artwork in the collection is even- tually purchased by the renter, she said. The artist receives 75% of the sale price. For more information, call 988-6844.
