Right now,.the team stores its rescue equipment — tents, base camp equipment, snow. shoes, stretchers, first-aid equipment and ropes — in a trailer at the North Vancouver City yard. Said rescue team leader Tim Sones: “You can’t move in it. It’s . packed full of equipment.” Sharp also wants to meet with other North Shore municipalities to seck suggestions on alternate sites and how maintenance costs can be covered, The motion was carried unanimously, Said Jones, “We're hoping the other two municipalities will sup- port it.” Jones said the team needs a large storage room serviced with hot water. For now team members a a ee are taking home cquipment in need of repair or cleaning. The 40-member volunteer res- cue team is on call 24 hours a day and responds to incidenis through- out the region. The team responds to an average of 50 search and res- cue operations annually. The team is supported at the new Gerry Brewer police building through the North and West Vancouver Emergency Program. The team has an office with the emergency program, access to a large multi-purpose room for mectings and a radio communica- tions room.
