Tabi int'l boutiques

COTTON GINNY Limited, based in
Toronto, recently announced its pur-

- chase of all 28 Tabi stores, including
the Capilano Mall location.

Cotton Ginny, 4 name inspired by
Anne Murray's '70s recording of a
Kenny Loggins song, is controlied
by a Jacksonville, Florida company.
The chain has 245 stores and 1,806
employees across Canada.

Cotton Ginny will operate the
Tabi International Ltd. stores as a

- separate subsidiary. All 225 employ-
ees of Tabi have been offered jobs
with the new company. Plans for

_ expansion are also in the works.
This month, Tabi will receive a
. full line of new merchandise,
designed by Susan Jonas, continuing
’ - along the same classic styling that
Tabi was known for in the past.

Eatons specializes in fashion

“* Batons recently opened a new

store in Mississauga, Ontario that is
a prototype for future stores.

The concept is different from
other Eatons department stores in
that the large two-level complex,
located in Erin Milis Town Centre, is
entirely devoted to fashion.

Women’s clothing is divided into
themed departments including
Attitude, The Casual Connecticn,
Pursuits, Summit Place, Occasions,
Petites and Size Shop.

There is also a full-service
Elizabeth Arden Salon with a spa
area,

The prototype store, designed by
the New York architecture firm
T.S.R. and Toronto’s Edward
Galanyk Architects, as reportedly
met with good response from cus-
tomers, .

Fixtures include ceramic tile
floors, richly textured walls, }0-foot
wide aisles and a central, glass-
enclosed elevator. As well, there will
be seating areas in every department,
advanced lighting technology, five
information kiosks and more effi-
cient cash terminals,
