Before Judge Jerome Paradis in North Vancouver provincial court on May 26: Heather Patricia MacPherson, 24. of North Vancouver, was fined a total of $200 after she pleaded guilty to two counts of breaching probation Waterfront workers hait contract talks THE INTERNATIONAL Longshoremen’s and Ware- housemen’s Union broke off talks with the Waterfront Foremen’s Employers’ Assoc- iation Monday and may be in a position to go on strike with- ‘na month. “We asked the conciliator to write his report and get out of our dispute,” union spokesman Doug Sigurdson said Tuesday. The 500-member union has been without a contract since Jan. 1, 1993, There are several issues in dis- pute, one of which is full benefits for union members who are off sick or on welfare. Sigurdson said the problems seem to stem from employers at Neptune Terminals, Vancouver Wharves, Pacific Coast Terminals and Squamish Terminals. “Every time we meet they put a new (issue) on the table.” Sigurdson said the conciliator ‘would have to submit his report before the union could take a strike vote, The union’s members make an average wage of $85,000 per year. in Calgary between June 24, 1990 and Aug. 24, 1990.
