CHAINSAW ARTIST Gienn Greensides readies one of seven
wooden sculptures for tranzport. It will be placed in the
plaza at the foct of Grouse Mountain. His work involves 19
scuiptures in all. The pieces are carved from dead trees. The
work is called A Tribute To The Forest and reflects the log-
ging industry as well as cther human interaction within the
forest.

Assault investigation In a kaleidoscope of colours
A NORTH Vancouver RCMP officer was allegedly
assaulted on July 10 while he was investigating a noise
complaint in the Deep Cove area.

Severai police units were dispatched to help Const.
Norm Rooney, according to 2 North Vancouver RCMP
spokesman.

David McGuinnes, 50, ef North Vancouver, was
arrested and charged with assaulting a police officer and
obstructing a peace officer in connection with the inci-
dent.

Woman jailed

A 30-YEAR-OLD Vancouver woman was recently jailed
two months in connection with a charge of stealing
money belonging to Nacel Prepertics Ltd. in North
Vancouver City.

Vicenta Maria Sancho pleaded guilty to the charge
stemming from a March 3, 1993 incident.

She was required to pay $2,100 restitution.

Sancho also received 12 months’ probation.

It was recommended that the jail sentence be served
through the electronic monitoring program.

Judge Jerome Paradis sentenced Sancho on June 22
in North Vancouver provincial court.

Hot car recovered

A STOLEN 1990 Chrysler LeBaron was recovered on
July 7 after the North Vancouver RCMP stopped the car
during a routine traffic investigation in North Vancouver
City.

Shane Douglas Joseph, 21, of no fixed address, is
charged with possessing stclen property in connection
with the {1 a.m. incident.

There were two males in the car when it was pulled
over, according to a police spokesman.
