don’t belong to you, go to weird and
sarange locations around Vancouver,
like the Riverview Mental Hospital,
and get paid minimum wage?

‘All this and more can be yours if
you have what it takes to be an
extra. So sign up toduy. You could
be a part of major motion pictures
like Bird On A Wire, Look Who’s
Talking Now, and Stay Tuned.

These movies were all filmed in
Vancouver. The only setback — try-
ing to find yourself in the finished
production is like looking for
Waldo.

By now, I'm sure most of you
have seen the large niovie trailers on
location around our city, usually
causing major disruptions in traffic.

You might have wondered to
yourself, “What does it take to be a
part of the film industry?”

Well, to become an extra it takes
a registration fee and an agency that
will accept you. But before you rush
to sign up perhaps I should tell you
a little bit more about being an
extra.

To begin with, you should look
in the phone book to find an agency
that is willing to take you on. There
are usually plenty. Once you have
been signed up, you wait for a call
from your agent.

He or she will then give you

- your call time (the time you should
be on set) and your location, and
you're on your way.

Whenever I think about my early

20s. My friends were down there

my location was out in Tsawwassen.

wait some more, until finally, a pro-
duction assistant (PA) came in and
gave us the run-down on the day's
agenda, which consisted of sitting in
a circus tent and watching a stunt
dog performing tricks (and this
puppy was just the stand-in).

The PA then informed us that the
wardrobe mistress would be around
to look at our three changes of
clothes. :

“What three changes?” I asked
the PA.

“The ones you were supposed to
bring with you,” she said, then con-
tinued with “Oh, don’t tell me that
you didn’t bring any changes with

It (the rioting) wasn’t every-
where, it was just Robson and,

They should have had more cops

Yes, I watched the hockey
playoffs. They got there, they had
a really good season and they
made it to the seventh game,

The hockey, they should just

on the Young Offenders Act.

future.
