Editorial 985-2131 More violence erupts in Lynn Valley VIOLENCE FLARED again in the Lynn Valley area fate Saturday night when machete-wiclding youths hacked up a car and threatened a man at knife- point. By Michael Becker News Reporter According to a witness. who asked fo remain anonymous out of fear of retaliation, the incident occurred at around midnight fol- lowing oa dispute between two youths at the Lynn Valley 7- Eleven. One of the youths was armed with a machete. The other youth feft: the store with his girlfriend and was foHowed by two carloads of youths, The couple had returned to the girlfriend's house when the two cars pulled up. Some of the youths in the cars began destroying the couple’s vehicle, which eventually sustained an estimated $2,800 in damage. A man sleeping in’ his home nearby awoke to hear the commo- tion outside, and, not realizing that two of the youths were armed with machetes, ran out to chase them away. But the man himself was chased and threatened. The vouths pursu- ing him carried machetes with blades estimated at between 1S in- ches and two feet in length. North Vancouver ROMP are investigating the incident. Meanwhile 7-Eleven officials are looking at way. of making the Lynn Valley store Jess attractive as a hangout for area young people.
