North Vancouver District has withdrawn its funding from the Yester & Future Society, an organization over- seeing the arts festival. The dis- trict is demanding repayment of $10,209 in advance monies given for start-up costs and now North Vancouver City will be going it alone with its Explosion of the Arts Festival. In celebration of the upcoming, millennium North Vancouver City passed several resolutions earlier this month towards planning for year 2000 festivines. City council plans to build a pedestrian plaza on West Ist Street in conjunction vith the cultural diversity and arts festi- vals. As part of the city’s Millennium: Capital Project, the plaza will house a portable photographic disphy of the city’s history organized in con- junction with the North Vancouver Muscum = and Archives Commission. A companion booklet will also be produced with pho- tographs and text about the city.
