I worked with a woman for 11 years and wrote to her after I retired to another city. My ‘ettecs, cards and gifts were in her home weeks after the death. I called and was told she had died and wes buried. . There should have been some kind of notice piven me, us J was devoted to her — FE was her second mother for years. 1 always reply to messages or Inquiries after a loss and thank the people who cared enough to say a few words on a sympathy card. Am I wrong? GENTLE READER — Of course you are not wrong to res- pond to expressions of sympathy, but that is not quite the same thing as knowing whom to notify of a death.
