Protect your
lawn mower

LAWN mowers can be an expen-
sive investment.

To prolong your mower's life
read carefully the operator’s man-
ual. Mos: operator’s manuals have
complete maintenance procedures
that, if followed, will keep your
mower going strong as long as
possible.

The manual will tell you what
needs to be done and when, but
here are some general maintenance
guidelines:

e Before each mowing, check
the oil level and add oi! as needed.
Clear out any grass clippings, twigs
or debris from around the machine
that block air from getting to the
engine.

e After every 10 hours of use,
lubricate the mowers’ wheel spin-
dies and grease fittings. Check the
tires and fill them to the recom-
mended air pressure.

® After every 25 hours of use,
drain the engine crankcase oil and
replace it with fresh oil. At the
same time clean or replace the air
filter and sharpen the mower
blades according to the manual.
Check the mower’s belts and
replace them if they’re worn.

© After every 100 hours, give the
lawn mower a thorough cleaning,
clearing clippings and debris from
around the engine and cooling
fans.

« After two years or 500 hours
of use, whichever comes first,
change the transmission fluid on
riding mowers.
