Hanson will be giving a free lec- {ure on topics such as stress Management at the Avalon Hotel Wed., Aug. 6 at 7:30 p.m. The workshop is offered in con- junction with an eight-day Inner Peace International Conference, being held this week at Camp Capilano in North Vancouver. “We've chosen the North Shore because of the environment,”’ said Hanson. “It’s such a gorgeous spot and gives people the feel for the West.’ WIDE ATTRACTION She expects the conference will attract between 50 and 100 partici- pants from throughout North America. But, she added, the con- ference would benefit people more who are already involved in the Inner Peace Movement. The Inner .Peace program was founded by a Puerto Rican doctor in 1964, and the organization has its main headquarters based in Washington, D.C. Hanson said Wednesday's lec- ture is an introduction to the pro- gram and is open to everyone. “We live in a material world, but there’s a world of spirit that we're unaware of,’’ said Hanson. “Once we undersiand how to live in both worlds we'll achieve a balance. This is how we can change our lives."' Hanson said Inner Peace is not a religious or political movement. She said it deals in areas such as relaxation techniques, and learning how {to balance the intellectual and feeling nature of man. TRUST YOURSELF “it’s learning how to trust yourself ~~ you have your own answers,”' she said. Hanson, who has worked in the area of sales and marketing for the past 15 years, credits the [nner Peace program for improving her life. “In the busines world | ou're either one of two things — you prevent yourself from becoming successful because of the pressure or you're someone who is suc- cessful but not able to enjoy it. “I've learned to tap into myself and once you tearn to do that it takes away the pressure,'’ she said. Hanson said many books are available on relaxation, but the Inner Peace program helps peopie to put this knowledge into prac- tice.
