QUESTION: We are so excited about our summer plans. We've never been to Europe and would like to know how long you would suggest we stay in London? We expect to be away for three weeks. How much time would you allow for Germany, France, England and Spain? Could we possibly see Italy as well? ANSWER: If you try to cram all those places into three_ weeks, I can almost guarantee a lousy holiday. Sure, people do it every day. I pity them. To see London adequately, plan on three years. Your first visit will . probably take you to a few of the major tourist spots such as the Tower and Buckingham Palace. You won't want to miss West- minster Abbey. And some stage shows. And some restaurants. And the Houses of Parliament: And on and on. Try to pick a sensible - itinerary that won't leave you exhausted. I can’t possibly pick a. schedule for you. All I can tell you is that my first trip to Europe included a week in London, a week on a bus toufing around England and a week cruising the Mediterranean out of Genoa. It was hectic as $1.49 day but did give us a taste of Europe — and didn’t discourage us too much. Many people who have tried to do as much or more have come back home - vowing never to go again!
