is seeking a qualified CIRCULATION DIRECTOR

to manage the Circulation department of the Kelowna Daily
Courier, a 7-day/week morning delivered newspaper with a
circulation of approx. 18,000. (The Saturday Okanagan pub-
lishes over 30,000 valleywide). The Kelowna Daily Courier is
Kelowna's only daily newspaper, publishing since 1904.
This position wil! also havé some functional responsibilities
for the overall newspaper group including the Penticton
Herald (5-day/week newspaper, circulation approx. 9,000
and The Westside Weekly (publishing Wednesdays. and
Fridays, circulation approx. 13,000). TMC’s, Real Estate and
TV 8o00ks are published weekly.
One of Canada's fastest growing communities, Kelowna
(pop. 92,000) is located 4.5 hours east of Vancouver and
offers an ideal climate with year round recreation activities
including watersports, golf and skiing.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: As a key member of the
senior management team, the successful candidate will
develop executive marketing strategies for circulation growth,
lead, train and support staff in executing these strategies, set
performance standards and ensure they are met, maintain
excellence in customer service and on-time delivery of the
newspapers, and develop marketing/promotion plans and
ongoing budgets. .
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS: The ideal candidate wil oa
have a successful track record of management experience -
with major emphasis on circulation sales, marketing and pro-_
motions, she/he will have a strong strategic orientation, com-.
bined with creativity and a willingness to demonstrate hands-:
