Thank you for the excel-
lent coverage of the labor
dispute at Capilano College.
The 42 workers who have
been without wages for five
weeks appreciate the support
we have received from the
community for our cause,
especially from North
Vancouver-Lonsdale MLA

David Schreck.

The completion of this
project funded by provincial
tax dollars ($19.3 million)
has been halted because of
contractors in dispute over
monies owed; while the issue
of the workers who are owed
for three weeks' wages
remains, progress is at a
standstill, at the cost of tax-
payers and all other stake-
holders.

In the meantime, a recent
hearing at a Labour Relations
Board had interesting results.

Even though the general
contractor admitted — to
monies owed to the 42 work-
ers, the outcome of the hear-
ing was to leave the workers
to collect their monies owed
through the lien process.

Integrating Health Services on the North Shore

Twenty-five North Shore agencies receive funding
from the Ministry of Health (the regional budget
wili be approximately $160 million). The North
Shore Health Board (NSHB) is working towards
amalgamation, affiliation or transfer agrcemenis
with agencies that receive the majority of their
operating bi:.igets from the Ministry.

Lions Gate Hospital $96,772,000
(North and West Vancouver Hospital Society)

The NSHB and LGH Board continue to meet to
ensure a smcoth arnalgamation with the region’s
largest agency. Target date is March 31, 1996.
North Shore Health $10,080,000
(North Shore Union Board of Heatth)

North Shore Health has a history of working closely
with the North Shore municipalities and school
boards. Target date for transfer is June, 1996.

North Shore Home Support Services $6,910,000
(North Shoré Home Support Services Society)

April 1 is the target date for amalgamation.
Cedarview Lodge $5,780,000.
(North Shore Intermediate Care Society)

The North Shore Intermediate Care Society Board
plans to create a Fellowship (registered Society with
tax exemption status) to support the Lodge inits
volunteer fundraising activities, Target date for
atnalgamation is April 1, 1996.

North Shore

Community Mental Health Centre $4,181,000
The program is entirely funded by the Ministry.
Target date for transfer is after April 1, £996.
