‘Hornets Lynn Valley development hit at meeting By Deana Lancaster Contributing Writer A developer’s public information mecting on Monday night in Lynn Valley became the first battleground for a six- week-old residents’ Jobby group. Concerned Citizens of Lynn Valley (CCLV) formed as a result of the district’s revised Official Community Plan (OCP) for the area, The community planning, team has allowed for faster growth. Models displayed in Lynn Valley Mall showed 2,700 new multi-family hous- ing units to house the predict- ed growth. Some residents were not impressed. About three weeks ago, residents near 27th and Mountain Highway got word that MacLean Management, a West Vancouver company, had plans to develop the scuth- east corner of the intersection. The company wants to build 39 townhouse units in low-rise clusters of seven. To do it, the property must be rezoned from single-family to low-rise residential. “We thought the high- density would stay west of Mountain Highway,” said CCLVY member Caroline Jackson. “Once it starts encroaching on the single- family area, it’s like a creeping cancer.” Jackson estimates that more than a hundred local residents showed up at the ublic information meeting osted by MacLean Management last Monday night. “We've been here for 24 years,” Jackson said. She lives on Crestlynn Place, near 27th Street. “Most of the neigh- bors have been here just ‘as long, it’s a very stable neigh- borhood. We'd like to retain that family atmosphere.” FACTORY FUTON NEWS photo Mike Wakafield A group of Lynn Valley residents are‘unhappy with a development proposed for 27th Street and Mountain Highway.
