quirements lo ensure that blasting
is cacried ont safely.

The dratt soit removal and de-
posit revulation bylaw applies the
regulations that govern the vol-
umes of earth to be removed
through blasting to rock broken
by other means and all types of
soil,

Lambert proposes that the
removel and deposit ot soil and
rock be prohibited on residential
sites with slopes greater than 15%,
except. fur the construction of
houses and garages, driveways and
service installations.

The volume af soit or rock that
could be removed on such a site
for a house or garage would be
limited to half the volume of a
basemen? or bottom floor.

The bylaw would also be revised
to simplify the permit pracess.

And it would affect tennis court
construction because the bylaw
will limit) the rock and soil
removal and deposit on sites with
a slope grade over [5%o.

Tennis court construction has
thus far only been loosely regu-
lated in West Vancouver, leading
to recent public protests, including
a petition against a specific tennis
court in the Briush Properties.

According to Lambert’s May 28
report, Mayor Mark Sager sug-
