Doug Collins @ get this straight @ IT’S GOOD to hear that Wardair Canada uses its | stewardesses as female sex objects. More female sex ob- jects is just what we need. On the airlines and off, if you ask me. God bless the Sunshine Girl. But the alarm bells sound. The silly Canadian Union of Public Employees has put in a complaint to the equally silly Canadian Human Rights Commission. If I read it right, the union is saying it is wrong that Wardair wants the girls to look pretty. Forget it, CUPE. | would rather be looked after by a pretty young thing than by some scowl- ing hag who looks as if she should be in Media Watch. Pret- ty young things of the female sort ate also preferable to pretty young guys with rings in their ears. CUPE complains, too, that the © stewardesses are told not to put on weight. But who wants. a two-hundred-and-fifty pounder waddling down the aisle with the Scotch and soda? We tipplers have our morale to think of. The union list of woes is endless. Most of the stewardesses hired by Wardair, whines CUPE, are ‘‘white, fair and female’’. Great. I like them white, fair f and female. I once made the mistake of travelling on United Air Lines and the black stewardess poured coffee all over me even though she didn’t know ¥ what sort of joker I am. She probably had a quota to fill. Wardair sinned again, it seems, by telling a female ‘flight atten- dant’”’ that her hair-style was: un- suitable and that she would be sent home if she did not change it, Great. Some women have fun-’ ny hair that looks like‘a thorn bush, and who wants to be gteeted with a spike in the eye when he’s showing his boarding pass? Wardair spokesman Barry Corbett says he is sure the human rights commission will exonerate the airline, which a British con- sumer magazine has rated the world’s best for comfort. Poor Mr. Corbett. Poor War- dair. Human rights commissions exist to favor gargoyles and guys with rings in their ears. . In the meantime, fly Wardair. They’re trying. oem Does CUPE have jurisdiction” in the U.S.? Aviation Week magazine teported a while back that the Federal Aviation Administration had some trouble with white dummies and black dummies. The FAA was planning to crash a Boeing 720 to find out what would happen when a large transport aircraft hit the ground. So it placed instrumented dum- mies in 75 seats. The first batch of dummies received by the FAA was white, and the last batch black. Alas, the white dummies had already been placed in the front seats, and the only ones left for the black dummies were at the back of the bus, so to speak. “It was too late to make the dummies all white, all black or any other color,’’ reported the magazine, ‘‘so FAA removed white dummies from various seats and replaced them with | black dummies, to spread them around in equal fashion.” ake Female members of the Asian community in Halifax, England, have asked the local council to black out the windows of the local swimming pool because their religion does not allow them to be seen swimming by strang- ers. And Rochdale council has told taxi drivers who fly Union Jacks on their cars that they will lose their licences if they don’t get rid of the flags, which annoy the local Asians. see Never say 1 am flint-hearted. - Mr. Ron D’Altroy of North Van has asked me to make it known that the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors, of which he. is past-president, is organizing a show of antique clocks and watches.
